Public Notice Cambria County has been awarded Federal Funds made available through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program. The award of $74,297 will be used to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county. The Local Emergency Food and Shelter Board is responsible to and will determine how these, and any additional funds awarded to Cambria County under Phase 35, will be distributed among local nonprofit programs. Priorities considered are: Utility/Rent; Shelter and Food Assistance. Local agencies must be private voluntary nonprofits or units of government, be eligible to receive federal funds, have an accounting system, practice nondiscrimination, have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and Ñ if they are a private voluntary organization Ñ have a voluntary board of directors. Public or private voluntary agencies that meet funding requirements and are interested in applying for the funding must contact Mickie Cooper with the United Way of the Laurel Highlands at 814-535-2563. Inquiries for participation must be received no later than 4:30 pm, June 5, 2018.
